The information evening held last night for a new Angel Investor group on the Kapiti Coast is being hailed by the Chamber as a good thing for Kapiti.

Coordinated by Otaki’s Clean Technology Centre Trust, with support from Grow Wellington Angel HQ, Kapiti Chamber of Commerce, Finman accountants, and the NZ Angel Association, the evening was well attended, featured prominent speakers and provided information and a networking forum for local business people and potential Angel investors.

Access to capital, mentoring, and the right national and global networks are critical factors for Kapiti clean technology ideas people and start-up businesses, according to the Chamber. Chairman Mark Ternent says “It’s great also that all the potential Angels at the meeting were Kapiti and Horowhenua locals.”

The Chamber is encouraging people who have some money to invest to come forward and find out whether this group could be for you.

Speakers included Dr Ray Thomson, Chair of the NZ Angels Association and Kapiti local Marcel van den Assum who is the Deputy Chair of the NZ Angel Association; Chairman of the world leading Kapiti originated company GreenButton; and an angel investor himself.

Clean Technology development has potentially a huge future in Kapiti. “This is smart future-focused thinking with global applications and benefits. New Zealand needs more of this type of thinking, and the Kapiti Clean Tech Centre is helping lead the way”, finishes Mr Ternent.

The next step for the group is a constitutional meeting being planned for December. The group is supported by and will be a part of the NZ Angel Investors network.
