New Chair for Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce

The Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new Chair has been elected at last night’s Annual General Meeting.

The new elected chair Heather Hutchings, of HeatherHutchings.com and business coach of 20 years, replaces Liz Koh who is standing down after a term of three years.

Other changes include Julene Hope, Director of Bright Spot Consulting Ltd has been elected as Deputy Chair, replacing Bernard Parker who is also standing down. Ian Fenwick remains in his position as Treasurer, and new to the Board is CJ Cole as Secretary.

A vote of thanks was given during the evening for the work that has been accomplished by the Board through the year, in which the Board has initiated a number of key initiatives, some which are still underway, which will be of benefit to businesses and the wider community.

Outgoing Chair Liz Koh says 2016 has undoubtedly been the busiest year of her three year term, and has taken the Chamber to a new level and strengthened its advocacy role for business.

“This year alone has seen the development of a training seminars, launch of the Chamber Facebook page and App, our Inaugural International Women’s Day Event, participation in the Implementation of Kapiti’s Economic Development Strategy, development of a Chamber Election Manifesto, and the launch of a Work Ready Passport to assist in Youth Employment.”

Newly appointed Chair, Heather Hutchings is looking forward to adding her expertise and continuing Liz Koh’s efforts to be a strong advocate for the business community.  She also acknowledges the good work of outgoing Secretary Sheryl Earnshaw of Star People who has been a capable and reliable Chamber Secretary for the last four years.

“I am Looking forward to building on the commitment and the involvement of the previous chair, Liz Koh. Economic growth along with advocating on behalf of the business community, and creating an environment in which businesses can prosper, are all high on my objectives for 2017.”

The Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce exists to advance the economy by creating wealth and employment and solve local business issues by providing a collective voice for business in Kapiti.
