Health & Safety on the Move
The Kapiti Chamber of Commerce has signaled health & safety to be an important focus for its new Training After 5 programme. The event which is open to all Kapiti businesses and organisations is being held on Wednesday 10th June from 5:30 to 7pm at the Kapiti Sports Pavilion.
Organisations have a legal obligation to put in place suitable arrangements to manage for health and safety. For business owners, directors and managers an understanding of the Health and Safety in Employment Act and upcoming legislative changes is essential. The proposed changes in the Health and Safety at Work Act emphasizes the importance of understanding, promoting and implementing effective H & S practices.
Liz Koh, Chamber Chair says “This training event will guide attendees through their legal obligations and introduce strategies to ensure your business is as healthy and safe as possible. It will be a practical session on what you need to be doing to get ready for the pending H&S legislative changes.”
The events presenter is Adrienne Pryde, a specialist Health & Safety Consultant at Business Central. Adrienne is an experienced H&S practitioner having worked in the manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and corporate arenas. She has extensive experience developing health and safety systems tailored to the needs of individual organisations, which are both practical and meet audit requirements.
During the presentation attendees will also hear from two local businesses, Brien Electrical & Mitre10 MEGA Kapiti on what they are putting in place to meet the new legislative requirements.
Liz Koh says “If you are a business, you are automatically, a PCBU under the new changes coming in health and safety law. I encourage all businesses on the Kapiti Coast to come along and see what a PCBU is and how these changes affect your business, and what you need to do to be ready for them.”
This TA5 event is free to chamber members and at a moderate cost of $25 for non members. To register go to the Kapiti Chamber website www.kapitichamber.org.nz
