The Kāpiti Coast life

The Kāpiti Coast is a 40 kilometre stretch of beautiful beaches sheltered by the iconic Kāpiti Island to the west and the rugged Tararua ranges to the east. With a warm climate and friendly communities, the area is just an hour north of the capital.

With five town centres, from Paekakariki to Otaki, a growing population and many places of unique natural beauty, crowned by nature sanctuary Kāpiti Island, our district is the best place to live, work and play.

New roading connections to the north and south of Kāpiti are bringing the district closer to Wellington and Palmerston North, and with a direct rail link to Wellington running every day, you can enjoy everything Kāpiti has to offer while remaining close to regional hubs and cities.

Looking for something to do in Kāpiti? There is something for everyone here. From outdoor activities making the most of the area’s natural beauty, like walking, biking or tramping, to a thriving creative sector, boutique retail and a growing food and craft brewing industry, Kāpiti is the holiday destination those of us lucky enough to live here call home!
